Auntie Love!

It seems that if you research orphanages on the internet they
don't have great reputations world wide.
We have really been blessed with the creche Kobe is in.
The aunties love the children and make it their top priority to
1) Keep the children safe and healthy
2) Prepare them for their adoption.

Check out this photo of Kobe with his auntie.

Thank you April!!

These photos mean the world to Nate and I tonight.
These are the first "real" smiles we have seen from our little boy!
Thank you to April for doing so much to make sure you caught him on camera!

I'm so proud to say this is MY boy!

How could you not love that face!

Dear Kobe...........

Well Kobe has received a few pieces of mail recently.

His cousin Masie colored a picture for him:

And his friend (even if he doesn't know it yet) Ava sent him a Valentine!!
I didn't think I would have to worry about the girls knockin' our door down already!!!

Update!!!!!

So our January update arrived today in our email....

It is obvious to see how much this little boy has progressed, he has grown much and his spirit has increased a lot. Actually this little guy is very awake and playful. He is happy to be around the kids in order to listen to them singing, he claps his hands and shakes his head. When he is not in good mood he might not play with anyone but by the time he is content he plays and smiles much with people. Nowadays he tries hard to walk by holding things like chairs, table and so on.

This is taken directly from our update. I am so glad he is feeling good enough to start smiling and playing with people. For the record when I am not in a good mood I don't play with people either so that is just fine there baby boy.

So now for the photo that came with our update....I can TOTALLY picture him in this photo clapping his hands and be-bopping his head to the children's music......

Eating Dirt To Survive In Haiti

Here's an article about the rising food prices and what they mean for the people of Haiti. I have seen before that they eat yellow dirt just to fill up. Can you imagine having your children crying because they are hungry and all you can provide for them is dirt cookies? It breaks my heart that some families love their children so much and yet they are able to do so little. This kind of gives a small idea of how children in Haiti become orphans or are allowed to be adopted. If they could be sustained on love alone from their birthparents the situation would be a lot different.

I wonder....

These are the things I've been wondering about lately....

What color is Kobe's favorite?
Does he like playing with cars or what is his favorite toy?
Is he happy or is he sad?
Does he recognize my picture when he see's it above his bed?
What's he thinking?
Does he know how much he is loved?
Is he hungry or thrirsty?
Is he feeling good?
Does he have friends at the creche?
Are the other kids nice to him?
And in return is he being nice to the other kids?

Just a few of the things that keep me up at night!!
